Alumni & Board Spotlight - DAN HALEY
Dan Haley: From the Hill to the Heart of the Club
"Their success has motivated me to help ensure the Club experience is available now and in the future."
Sometimes, the power of the Club is realized long after school days are over. For Dan Haley, his path looked a bit different than most. Starting at age 10, he spent his after-school hours and summers working, spending his free time hanging out in the streets rather than inside the Clubhouse.
But as the years went on, Dan noticed something incredible: the lasting success of the peers who
did grow up in the Club. That realization inspired him to join the Alumni Association and dedicate his adulthood to paying it forward.
"I did not use the club as much as I should have... I have realized, observing the success of the Club members, that I should have spent a lot more time at the Club. Their success has motivated me to help ensure the Club experience is available now and in the future."
After serving in the military, Dan built a thriving, Portland-based business, Daniel T. Haley Insurance (which eventually became United Insurance, one of BGCSM’s most active corporate donors today!).
Now, Dan’s legacy can be felt across the entire Portland Club. As an active board member, generous donor, and the chair of our construction committee for the Portland Campus renovation project, nobody knows the history and facilities of the Portland Clubhouse better than Dan!
Alongside his wife Connie, Dan regularly opens the doors to his Munjoy Hill home to welcome new supporters, and he is always the very first person to call and welcome new board members or staff.
Dan, thank you for your incredible vision, your generosity, and your unwavering commitment to building a bright future for the next generation of Club kids! 💙
