Founded
in 1909, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Portland is an independent
affiliate of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the nation's
oldest and largest organization with a primary mission of
providing services to youth from disadvantaged circumstances.
We
are a dynamic organization, now serving an average of 2,200 boys
and girls a year, including an increasing number of immigrants
and refugees.
Our
Mission is to inspire and enable all young people,
especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their
full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
"The
Club offers a place to feel safe, to study, to get to know
new people, and to make new friends. Most importantly,
the club offered
me an environment that moved me into a positive path toward
a bright future."
Samuel
Carlo,
1999 Maine State Youth of the Year
