Before turning to the creation of fine art, Andre Laporte spent many years as a commercial illustrator for “high end” companies and well-known publications in New York, including the New York Times, Metropolitan Home and Women’s Wear Daily.  The artist has exhibited in several East Hampton Galleries and others in Long Island, NY.  His paintings hang in numerous private collections in New York.  Five years ago, Mr. LaPorte settled in Portland where his work can be seen at Greenhut Gallery.  “Provence Series #3”, an oil on canvas, reflects a favorite theme, the artist’s fascination with architecture.
